  I worked for this store from the beginning of them opening. I left in December due to one reason and the general manager was it. Melissa was not a good manager. She tries to be all friendly to your face and force you to say things about your coworkers. After acting kind to you even if you would not trash talk other employees, she would turn around and talk about you! She told one of my coworkers she was tired of micromanaging my high school schedule. Yes, I am in high school and was told during my interview I would receive days needed off for educational functions. It is Melissa's job to manage the store and create the schedule. In my signing of employment, I made sure this was known to all managers and written down. She would also leave almost every shift early or come late. If you wish to speak to her, it is difficult. As i have stated, I am a high school student. On multiple occasions I was denied proper break time based off of Ohio laws for minors and Steinmart’s own policy for employee breaks. I never received the raises promised in my interview and many new hires (who quit as well) were brought into the company making much more than I was for working there over a year. I would have loved to stay at the company for a longer time. I only stayed so long due to the outstanding staff (other than Melissa). I have made many great friendships here and I am greatful for that, but I am not greatful for being treated so poorly at such a great company!

  The manager is very rude, named Melissa. Does not care for her employees or customers. Does not try to accommodate to anyone or help anyone. I recently worked there a few months back & quit because of Melissa. I do not recommend anyone to apply there. She would not work with my college schedule, very degrading towards staff & unappreciative. It never felt as a healthy & happy environment to work in. Everyone felt as they were walking on eggshells around her & could never talk to her about a problem or an idea. The other employees were wonderful which is why I stayed for the period of time. But the management is just horrific. Not a good manager at all. Would have stayed but I was not going to deal with how she treated people. The canton store has a very high over turn & from multiple people, they have all quit because of how she treated them. Customers have complained about her multiple times as well.
